Creating Dashboards
There comes a time in every data jedi's journey where they need to analyze data with a single glance and make quick decisions. For you my apprentice, that time is now.
Create a Dashboard
Until now all of the visualizations
that you have seen have been a part of ad-hoc searches
. Dashboards
give us the ability to group and organize many visualizations onto a single screen and interact with those visualizations
without the use of the Cribl Search Language.
-
If you haven't already, navigate to Cribl Search by clicking
Explore
within theSearch pane
on the home page. -
In the left navigation bar click
Dashboards
.noteIf the
sidebar
is collapsed thedashboards
tab can be identified by theicon.
This is the Dashboard Page
where you can manage existing dashboards
and create new ones. Notice to the left of the dashboard
listing there is the option to Add Collection
.
Collections
are handy for grouping dashboards
logically. This can be done by team, function, data source, or really any way that you see fit. It only seems right that we put our dashboard
into a collection
for the sake of this exercise.
- Click
Add Collection
. - Enter
Sandboxes
as theCollection name
. - Click
Add
.
Now you have an empty collection
. Let's start filling it up by creating a new dashboard
.
- Click
Add Dashboard
. - Enter the following details:
- Name:
SBX Sample Dashboard - (your first name)
- Description:
Cribl Search Sandbox Dashboard
- Collection:
Sandboxes
- Cache data for:
None
- Name:
- Click

.
Perfect, you've now saved a wonderful(ly empty) dashboard
. Let's take the time to spruce it up a bit shall we.
