One if by Webhook. Two if by Email.

TL;DR

For those of you using notifications to alert when data volumes aren't what you'd expect, now you can target the Email for these special alerts. Neat!

In a move that comes as a surprise to no one, Cribl added more functionality to our products. Already we had notifications for administrators that want to know when a Source's data flow isn't as expected or when a Destination's... data flow isn't as expected. v4.5 adds another member to the list of targets: Email. In this sandbox, we'll go check out a pre-configured Email notification in Cribl Edge.

Living on the Edge

Just because we show it in Edge, doesn't mean it's Edge-only. Email as a target for notifications also exists in Cribl Stream.

Check it out
  1. At the top of the Cribl UI, while still in Edge, click Manage
  2. Click into the Notifications subtab
  3. Click Targets on the left-hand side
  4. Click Add Target
  5. Click Email

Again, not a lot to show here. Email notifications work better in a working environment. We aren't very fond of letting users send Emails on a whim. We learned our lesson last time people were trying to mine Bitcoin in a sandbox...

But I digress, the point here is: Cribl suite of products now supports sending notifications for unexpected data flow with respect to Sources or Destinations via Email! Tada! If you're looking further into these notifications, you can click into Manage > Data > Sources, click into a configured Source and click Notifications up top. Then you can add a new notification and configure it to your liking.

Beta Mail

This feature is still technically in Beta. That means it is subject to change in the next few releases. Come back later and see if we've made it look different.

That's all for now folks, let's conclude.
